Quang Ngai safely disposes of 10 UXO items left over from war

Earlier, after receiving reports from local residents, the Military Command of Dong Son commune promptly inspected and verified the sites before coordinating with specialized forces to implement safety measures.

Following a thorough survey, forces discovered a total of 10 UXO items, including a bomb in Trung Vinh hamlet; two 155mm artillery shells, four 105mm artillery shells, and three 82mm mortar rounds scattered across several locations within the commune.  

After being collected, all items were transported to a designated disposal site in accordance with established technical procedures. The entire operation was carried out in strict compliance with the approved disposal plan, ensuring absolute safety of personnel, local residents, and surrounding areas.   

Specialized force inspects and classifies unexploded bombs, shells, and other explosive remnants of war before collection and transportation.

The timely disposal of the UXO helped eliminate potential safety hazards, protect lives and property of local residents, and create favorable conditions for socio-economic development while maintaining a safe and stable community. 

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Head of the Military Command of Dong Son commune (Quang Ngai province), said the unit will continue working closely with relevant authorities to strengthen public awareness activities on the dangers posed by unexploded bombs, shells, and other explosive remnants of war.

Forces transport the UXO to a designated area for disposal in accordance with established technical procedures.

He also urged residents who discover suspected UXO to leave the items undisturbed and immediately notify local authorities or military agencies for proper handling. Under no circumstances should they attempt to dig up, move, or otherwise tamper with suspected explosive devices.
