Gathering celebrates 1968 Spring General Offensive and Uprising
PANO - The Liaison Board of the Political Department of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam (B2 in short) held a get-together to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the 1968 Spring General Offensive and Uprising on March 26 in Hanoi.

On February 15, 1961, the Liberation Army of South Vietnam (LASV) was established. On October 23, the Political Department of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam was founded.
During the 1968 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, troops of the unit rushed to the North and South directions of the battlefields.
Addressing the event, Senior Colonel Dinh Quoc Ky, Head of the liaison board held that the whole unit strictly grasped situation to have timely decisions. All troops focused on their major task while directly joining the combat.

There were many war veterans and fallen soldiers who had made great contribution to the cause of national defense and liberation.
At the meeting, delegates recalled heroic traditions of the unit as well as unforgettable memories while partaking in battles. Reportedly, during the 1968 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, 31 troops sacrificed their lives while hundreds of others were wounded.
In acknowledgement of their feat-of-arms, five collectives and individuals of the unit were honored with the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.
