Jointly held by the Vietnam Museum of Military History, the Cao Bang provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and the State Records and Archives Department of Vietnam, the event was part of the activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Border Campaign in 1950 and the 70th anniversary of the liberation day of Cao Bang province.
During the month-long exhibition, more than 200 photos, documents, and exhibits, divided into three parts: President Ho Chi Minh and Border Campaign 1950, Border Campaign 1950 and historical turning-points, and continued feats-of-arm, are on display.
On the occasion, organizers also introduce hundreds of books about the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh, the 70-year establishment and development of Cao Bang province, and President Ho Chi Minh’s love for the Northern province.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Le, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Museum of Military History, recalled that 70 years ago, under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese troops and people in the Cao – Bac – Lang theater launched the Border Campaign 1950 and recorded significant feats-of-arms. The victory became an important historical event, contributing to the success of the resistance war against the French colonialists.
The success of the campaign left valuable lessons on mobilizing the people’s power and the strength of great national unity for people’s warfare as well as the military art of the resistance war for national independence in the past and current national construction and defense cause.
