A wartime bomb with intact fuse safely deactivated in Quang Tri
PANO - The Military Command of Quang Tri province successfully deactivated a wartime magnetic bomb in La Lay village, A Ngo commune, Dakrong district on March 18.
While on duty, a patrol team of A Ngo commune’s Mobile Militia Platoon discovered a bomb at Kilometer 10 of National Highway 15D. Upon receiving the report, the engineering unit of the province’s Military Command promptly arrived at the site for inspection.

The bomb was an MK36 magnetic bomb, measured 1.6m in length, 27cm in diameter and 240kg in weight, with 80kg of explosives inside. Notably, the bomb had an intact MK32 fuse, making it unsafe to move.
The military engineers worked with local functional forces to cordon off the site, then carried out an on-site detonation using a remote electronic ignition system, following safety regulations.
