The typhoon has left severe consequences to local people in Lao Cai province. To help residents quickly stabilize their life, on September 21 and 22, the Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee launched the construction of resettlement areas in Nu and Nam Tong villages, which is implemented by Corps 12 under the Defense Ministry. According to the project, Nu village will have 40 stilt houses built for the Tay ethnic community. The project also includes a 300-square-meter community house, a 220-square-meter school campus, and other essential infrastructure such as roads, and electricity and water systems.

Reportedly, as of November 22, after two months of construction, the unit has conducted assigned tasks as scheduled with good quality and absolute safety. The troops strive to hand over the construction to the locals before this December 22. This effort has been highly appreciated by local authorities, relevant agencies, and the residents of Nu village.
Touring the work site, General Minh hailed the responsibility of Military Region 2’s and Corps 12’s personnel during task performance, highlighting that this is a special task, contributing to bringing a happy village to the victims. Considering the work the “100-day special task,” Corps 12’s troops and employees have been trying their best to boost the project progress.
To effectively implement the assigned tasks in the coming time, General Minh requested functional units to strictly adhere to the conclusions of the Politburo and the directives of higher levels regarding the overcoming of the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi while accelerating the progress of projects to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, particularly in the area. Therefore, officers, soldiers, and workers of Military Region 2 and Corps 12 must be well aware of their noble political mission, showing the virtues of and traditions of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. It also reaffirms the solidarity between the military and the civilians, thereby overcoming all challenges to complete the construction with absolute safety.
General Minh emphasized that Corps 12 must continue to foster progress and complete the construction to help local people stabilize their life as soon as possible.
Regarding the construction of resettlement projects in provinces where Military Region 2’s affiliated units are stationed, General Minh instructed Military Region 2 to further direct the provincial Military Commands to actively work with local Party committees and authorities so as to complete these projects by the end of this year.
On the occasion, General Minh handed over gifts from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, to local residents in Nu and Nam Tong villages as well as troops performing tasks in the areas, worth totally more than VND 150 million.
