So far, the Standing Board of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command has signed coordination agreement with 20 coastal provinces and cities. Thua Thien Hue is the 20th province to sign the agreement on carrying out the “Coast guards stand by fishermen” program with the coast guard force.
According to the signed agreement, Thua Thien Hue province will cooperate with coast guard units to disseminate the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies to fishermen; build safe localities and strong political systems; help locals in achieving criteria of new-style rural areas; assist fishermen in developing maritime economy and fishing at sea. These efforts will contribute to firmly maintaining security and national sovereignty over sea and islands.
The two sides will focus on exchanging the situations of local political security and public order; updating each other on information related to the protection of national security, public order, and safety at sea; protecting national sovereignty and jurisdiction; managing security, order, and safety and ensuring the observation of Vietnam’s laws and international agreements that Vietnam is a member.
They will work together to combat crimes, smuggling, trade frauds, drug trafficking, and violations at sea; equip fishermen with methods to stay safe at sea; conduct search and rescue and respond to incidents; provide free health examination and consultation and medicines for fishermen.
At the event, the Standing Board of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command assigned the Political Department to supervise and speed up the implementation of the program, the provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission to build and carry out the annual action plan and review its two-year implementation.
At the ceremony, the Vietnam Coast Guard presented 200 gifts, worth VND 1 million each, to policy beneficiaries, ethnic minority people, religious practitioners, and needy fishermen and handed over VND 100 million to assist the construction of two houses for needy families in Thua Thien Hue.
