Earlier, at 8:00 on February 19, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command received a mayday signal from Nguyen Tien Cong, aged 48 in Tan Can village, Canh Duong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province. He was the captain of trawler coded QB-33815 TS.
According to Cong, while conducting fishing activities about 65 nautical miles from Cua Viet port (Quang Tri) and 54 nautical miles from Con Co Island, a crew-member on board named Nguyen Van Dung, aged 38, from Canh Thuong village, Canh Duong commune, had a cerebrovascular accident (or stroke). His health condition was severe.
At 15:00 on the same day, a ship of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command approached the trawler. The command’s medical team gave the patient first aid and promptly brought him to the mainland for emergency treatment.

According to the medical staff, the patient’s blood pressure is now stable. He finds it difficult to speak and experiences right-sided paraplegia.
* Previously, on February 18, a fisherman of trawler numbered BL-93994 TS, captained by Vo Van Hai, aged 46 from Ganh Hao townlet, Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu, suffered a right-eye injury due to a slip while fishing in the waters of Hon Khoai island (Ca Mau province). The wound bled profusely, causing chest tightness and dyspnea (shortness of breath).
At 17:30 on the same day, Radar Station 595 of Battalion 551 under Naval Region 5 received the mayday signal and coordinated with Border Station 700 under the Ca Mau provincial Border Guard Command to guide the trawler to quickly take the injured fisherman to the port of Hon Khoai Island for treatment.

At 17:50, medical staff of Radar Station 595 provided the patient with first aid. On receiving healthcare, the patient is now in stable condition. The medical staff gave him medicines and instructed him on how to care for his wound.
As reported, the patient was Huynh Quang Thuc, aged 38 in Dien Hai commune, Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu. The trawler had four crew members on board.
