Troops evacuating people to safer areas |
The Quang Tri provincial Military Command has directed its affiliated units and Infantry Regiment 842 to coordinate with the local authorities to evacuate residents and their property to safe places. As of October 8, nearly 700 troops and militiamen, 23 boats, and 15 vehicles were mobilized for search and rescue missions.
To cope with floods and rains, the provincial Military Command asked its affiliated agencies and units to continue following the situation closely, and promptly implementing plans to deal with the natural disasters.
Heavy rains also made major regional river levels rise quickly. On October 8, Regiment 19 (Division 968) sent 150 troops to evacuate flood-hit people in Cam Thanh commune, Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province, to safer areas.
* Facing complicated and dangerous developments of floods, the Quang Binh provincial Military Command on October 8 instructed its affiliated agencies and units to mobilize forces to participate in search and rescue missions in critically flooded areas.
More than 1000 troops helped flood-hit victims overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
