Son Ca Island saves injured fisherman
PANO – Patient Nguyen Van Vang has recovered and been able to move his legs and sit up on bed after special treatment on Son Ca Island, said Colonel Vu Duy Khanh, Political Commissar of Son Ca Island, on May 3.

Fisherman Nguyen Van Vang, 34, from Hoai Huong commune of Hoai Nhon district, Binh Dinh province, is a diver working on board trawler BD - 96945 - TS. Earlier, at 19:50 May 1, he was hospitalized onto Son Ca Island in a critical condition, with both legs and the whole left of the body were paralyzed. The patient was diagnosed to experience decompress sickness while diving at the depth of 50m underwater. He then underwent special treatment outlined by the medical staff of the island.
Earlier on April 18, the medical staff of Son Ca Island successfully operated another patient Bui Ngoc Thinh, who suffered from appendicitis. According to Colonel Vu Duy Khanh, Bui Ngoc Thinh has now recovered and resumed his work.
