Sinh Ton island infirmary saves critically-ill fisherman
PANO - Sinh Ton island infirmary in Truong Sa island district, Khanh Hoa province on October 12 saved a fisherman suspected of having a brain stroke.
Earlier, at around 20:00 on October 11, while fishing offshore in the waters near Sinh Ton (Sin Cowe) Island, fisherman Vo Van Sy showed signs of a left-sided migraine, weak, and was unable to sit up on his own.

Trawler QNg 90828 TS sailed fisherman Sy to Sinh Ton Island. At that time, Sy was in a state of reduced sensation in the left half of the body, high blood pressure 200/110 mmHg. He had a history of hypertension.
Through examination, military medical staff of Sinh Ton island infirmary diagnosed that Sy was possibly suffering from left hemiplegia and needed monitoring for cerebral stroke.
The doctors then started treatment. They gave the patient three liters of oxygen per minute, placed an intravenous line, performed urinary catheterization, and regularly monitored the patient's vital signs.

The patient is now in a temporarily stable health condition with decreasing blood pressure. He continues to stay on the island for further treatment.
Fisherman Vo Van Sy, aged 54, a native of Binh Duong commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province. He was working on trawler QNg 90828 TS owned by Bui Van Anh with nearly 40 other fishermen.
