Reportedly, at 10:00 on January 2, Ship Wan Hai 367 flying Singaporean flag was en route from Malaysia to Vietnamese city of Hai Phong. When it was some 25 nautical miles from Vung Tau seaport, one of its crew-members had symptoms of appendicitis. Ship Wan Hai 367 and the lines’ agent contacted Tan Cang Pilot Company and asked for taking the troubled crew-member to the mainland for treatment.

Receiving the news, Ship Tan Cang P6 of Tan Cang Pilot Company under Saigon Newport Corporation on duty at sea promptly changed course to take the mission.

At 11:55 the same day, the Vietnamese ship approached Ship Wan Hai 367, picked up the troubled crew-member and gave him first aid.

At 12:45, docking at Cau Da Port in Vung Tau city, Ship Tan Cang P6 handed over the troubled crew-member to Wan Hai Lines’ agent before continuing its planned mission.
