They were diagnosed with gastrointestinal bleeding. They had lost a lot of blood, so their health condition had worsened and if they had not got timely treatment, they could die. However, the infirmary was unable to give treatment to the patients. Meanwhile, Cu Lao Cham Island was isolated due to strong winds and high waves. Thus the command asked the center for transporting the patients ashore.

Immediately, the center coordinated with Da Nang city Emergency Center 115 to send a medical crew and equipment on board Ship SAR 274 to take on the rescue mission.

Despite the bad weather condition, the ship anchored at Cu Lao Cham Island at 08:20p.m. the same day.

With the support from local border guard force, military medical staff, militia troops, the two patients were carried to Ship SAR 274 for on-site emergency aid and transported ashore for further treatment.
