New Year program held for people in border areas
PANO - The Dak Nong provincial Border Guard Command, the provincial Women’s Union, and the provincial Youth Union Organization co-organized a New Year program for people in Quang Truc commune, Tuy Duc district, Dak Nong province on January 10.
The program featured various activities, including free health check-ups and medicine for locals, Chung cake (square glutinous rice cake) festival, folk games, artistic exchange, and gift presentation to policy people and needy students.

During the event, 30 doctors and nurses from Military Hospital 175 under the Ministry of National Defense and Dak Nong General Hospital provided free health check-ups and medicine for more than 300 local people. The provincial Border Guard Command, in collaboration with the provincial Women’s Union and the provincial Youth Union Organization, wrapped 750 chung cakes to present to people in Quang Truc commune.
Earlier, the organizing panel mobilized organizations and individuals to donate VND 360 million to conduct the program. Troops of the provincial Border Guard Command and personnel of the provincial Women’s Union and the provincial Youth Union Organization prepared 350 gifts, worth VND 175 million in total, while the Dak Nong provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission presented glutinous rice and 161 sets of books and notebooks to children from the “Support children to go to school – Border Post's foster child” program.
The Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel)’s Branch in Dak Nong province (Viettel Dak Nong) offered 40 gifts, worth VND 20 million in total; Vietnam Bank for Social Policies in Dak Nong province donated 30 gifts, totally worth VND 15 million; the Vietnamese Heart Foundation of the Vietnam Television presented VND 15 million each to two needy families and six scholarships, worth VND 5 million each, to needy students with good academic results in Quang Truc commune.

According to Deputy Political Commissar of the provincial Border Guard Command Senior Colonel Bui Duc Chinh, the program created an opportunity for troops and people in border areas consolidate solidarity. It also demonstrated the responsibility of local Party Committee, authorities, armed forces, agencies, units, businesses, organizations, and individuals for people in border areas.
