Naval engineers help people address coastal erosion
PANO - From January 3 to 5, Naval Engineering Brigade 83 of the Naval Service collaborated with local forces and residents to construct a temporary seawall to mitigate coastal erosion at My Khe beach in Son Tra district, Da Nang city.
Previously, the combination of Northeastern monsoon winds and high tides generated powerful waves that relentlessly battered the coast for several days, causing severe erosion along nearly 400m of My Khe beach. This erosion significantly disrupted the daily lives of local people.

In response to a request for assistance from the Son Tra district People’s Committee, Naval Engineering Brigade 83 sent nearly 50 officers and soldiers, along with specialized equipment, to the affected area.
Working in coordination with local forces and residents, the team prepared over 2,000 sandbags and installed hundreds of wooden stakes to construct a temporary seawall.
Despite heavy rain and cold winds, the officers and soldiers of Brigade 83 successfully completed the nearly 300m-long temporary seawall and reinforced some points heavily impacted by the sea’s encroachment.
