Present at the scene of a landslide in Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province, Senior Colonel Pham Phung Hung, Commanding Officer of the Lao Cai provincial Military Command, noted that the landslide happened at 13:00 on September 8, burying four households in Hoa Su Pan 1 hamlet, Muong Hoa commune, Sa Pa town, causing six deaths and nine injured. After receiving the information, the Lao Cai provincial Military Command directed Sa Pa town Military Command to make recommendations to local authorities to overcome the landslide consequences, and send troops to the scene for search and rescue.

According to Vice Chairman of the Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Trong Hai, in response to the consequences of the typhoon, the provincial Steering Committee for disaster prevention, control and search and rescue conducted patrols and checked areas to be ready for any circumstances. In addition, the provincial People’s Committee also directed localities in the areas to send working groups to each household to encourage local people to strictly observe natural disaster prevention and control regulations.

* Meanwhile, the Son La provincial Military Command directed affiliated units to work with local authorities to send forces to the scene, then helped local people overcome disaster consequences, and search for the missing victims, among others.

Reportedly, rains and flooding took life of Sung Thi Trang, born in 2015 from Suoi Lot hamlet, Suoi Giang commune, Van Chan district, Yen Bai province. At 10:30 on September 8, her body was found. In addition, the natural disaster also damaged 439 houses and other constructions. The provincial Military Command quickly sent troops and vehicles to the scene to support flood-hit victims.

Meanwhile, Commanding Officer of the Phu Tho provincial Military Command Senior Colonel Nguyen Dinh Cuong held that the typhoon injured two people in the locality, and damaged 178 houses, together with many other constructions. The unit mobilized more than 400 troops and vehicles, in coordination with Engineering Brigade 543, to the scene to move nearly 300 households to safer places.

In the provinces of Vinh Phuc and Tuyen Quang, heavy rains damaged many trees and electric poles, and flooded thousands of hectares of rice. The provincial Military Commands mobilized more than 1,000 troops to help local people overcome disaster consequences.
