Division 3's troops ready for the mission

The Vietnam Border Guard Command has directed border guard commands of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Dinh to tightly manage vehicles, guide boats and ships to safe shelters, and respond promptly to various incidents. The Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) has mobilized 6,500 employees and over 110 information rescue teams and added thousands of generators to prevent communication breakdowns during the storm.

On the afternoon of September 7, in response to the Prime Minister's directive and the General Staff’s command, the Office of the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response, and Search and Rescue coordinated with ministries, localities, and military units, such as Military Region 3, the Navy, the Air Defense - Air Force Service, the Vietnam Border Guard Command, and the Vietnam Coast Guard Command to ensure rescue and disaster response readiness.

On September 7 in Hanoi, the Hanoi Capital Command mobilized officers and troops from the military commands of districts and towns and 560 militiamen to evacuate 175 households at risk of landslides to safer places and clear nearly 500 trees which were uprooted by the storm.

The same day in Thanh Hoa, the provincial armed forces mobilized 2,400 officers and soldiers to ensure safety at boat shelters, reinforce houses, assist locals to harvest rice, and relocate residents in flood-prone areas, evacuating 296 households with a total of 1,134 people. Units came up with plans and prepared forces and vehicles to handle circumstances.

On the afternoon of September 7, the Hung Yen provincial Military Command mobilized officers and soldiers to cooperate with the Military Command of Hung Yen city to clear fallen trees caused by the storm. They also fixed downed streetlights along various roads. The officers and soldiers actively informed the public to limit travel and take pro-active measures to respond to the storm.

Following the directives of Military Region 1, Division 3 mobilized over 5,400 officers and soldiers to guard around the clock to respond to the third storm. The unit coordinated with localities in Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Lang Son and other military units to promptly implement response plans and search-and-rescue operations. The unit also reviewed and supplemented equipment, supplies, medical provisions, and essential items according to regulations to support their mission.

At noon on September 7, Naval Ships 320 and 321 of Naval Region 3 discovered that trawler TB 92666TS with nine fishermen aboard lost its anchor and was drifting. After approximately two hours battling heavy rain and high waves, the officers and soldiers on Ships 320 and 321 successfully reached and towed the fishing boat ashore, ensuring absolute safety of both the fishermen and their assets.

Coast guard troops helping locals move to safer places

In Hai Phong city, Reconnaissance Team No.1 under the Vietnam Coast Guard Command worked with functional forces and local authorities to assist more than 1,000 residents living in old apartment buildings to move to safer areas. They also helped local businesses near military units secure rooftops, clear drainage systems, trim trees, and take necessary measures to ensure safety in the face of the storm and subsequent floods.
