Lo Van Khe, a native in Tan Phong village, Si Pa Phin commune, was among the beneficiaries this time. His wife fell into depression after giving birth to her second child. Khe’s income is just enough to buy daily food for his family only. He has never ever dared to dream of building a new house for his family. Standing in front of the ancestral altar, he expressed his deep thanks to the Party, the State and troops of Defense - Economic Unit 379 for building a home for his family.

The houses are expected to help Khe and other beneficiaries have better lives.

The mountainous district of Nam Po shares border with Lao localities and is home to eight ethnic minorities. Supports for them have always been a challenge to local authorities.

Colonel Luu Luong Bang, Deputy Commander of Defense - Economic Unit 379 said that the unit was assigned to build 56 houses for needy households in accordance with Plan No. 1484/KH-UBND issued on May 26 by the Provincial People’s Committee. To do the tasks, the unit has established a steering panel and four special working teams.

In fact, the tasks are not as easy as they thought. Lots of troubles appeared not only in transporting building materials but also in explaining locals about the good policy of the State.

Dien Bien province is experiencing the rainy season. In such a severe weather condition, Unit 379’s troops have made special effort to transport dozens of tons of building materials to the construction sites over the past two months.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Nam Po District Party Committee and Chairman of the Nam Po District People’s Council said that the building of houses for needy local families was greatly contributed by troops of Defense - Economic Unit 379. They have surmounted all hardships to bring happiness to the locals, he stressed.
