At Hill 82 War Cemetery in Tay Ninh province, a memorial and burial ceremony was held for 172 Vietnamese volunteer troops and advisors whose remains had been found and repatriated home from Cambodia by Search and Collection Team K71 of the provincial Military Command during the second search stage in the 2023-2024 dry season.
Politburo member, member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia and PCC member, permanent member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong attended the event.
At this ceremony, participants observed a minute’s silence in tribute to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other fallen troops. They offered incense and flowers, expressed deep gratitude to the martyrs who bravely sacrificed themselves for the nation’s revolution, independence, and freedom, and for happiness of Vietnamese and Cambodian peoples. The martyrs would be a bright example for younger generations to study, make contributions to fostering the traditional friendship, solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between Vietnam and Cambodia.
On the occasion, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia and the delegation of National Assembly deputies of Tay Ninh province handed over three gratitude houses to policy beneficiary families in Tan Chau district while Gen. Luong presented 20 gifts to local policy beneficiary families and other gifts to Teams K70, K71 and the Management Board of Hill 82 War Cemetery.
* A delegation from the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, led by Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Pham Hoai Nam offered incense in commemoration of former Chief of the General Staff cum former Deputy Defense Minister Gen. Le Trong Tan and former Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh.
Gen. Nam expressed deep respect and gratitude to the late leaders for their great contribution to the revolutionary cause of the Party, nation, and military. He inquired after their relatives and hoped that they would continue promoting glorious traditions, contribute more to the development of the country and the military.
* During the “Root-returning” program in Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, the delegation of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) paid tribute to former GDP Director General Nguyen Chi Thanh and other leaders of the GDP at the GDP resistance war historical relic site in Tham Tang village, Dinh Bien commune (present Khau Dieu village, Dinh Bien commune). On behalf of the GDP officials, personnel and soldiers, the delegation promised to further study, train, bring into play tradition, devote talent, deserve to be Uncle Ho’s soldiers and build firm political stance as well as stay ready to undertake and accomplish all assignments.
Also in this program, the delegation handed over gratitude houses and gifts from the GDP to the families of Pham Hong Quan in Na Tap village, Dong Thinh commune and of Nguyen Thi Siu in Hong Van Luong village, Trung Luong commune.
* A delegation from the General Department of Logistics visited and presented gifts to wounded and sick soldiers cared at Duy Tien and Kim Bang Convalescent Centers for Wounded Soldiers in Ha Nam province and the two centers. Earlier, the delegation visited Thuan Thanh Convalescent Center for Wounded Soldiers in Bac Ninh province.
* The Coast Guard Region 2 Command inquired after national contributors at Quang Nam provincial Nursing Center for National Contributors, and presented gifts to the center. The delegation also gave 10 gifts to policy beneficiary families in Tam Nghia commune, Nui Thanh district and handed over a gratitude house to the family of Nguyen Thi Nhuoc in Tam Hoa commune, Nui Thanh district.
* The Military-Civilian Medical Boards of Military Region 1 and the Health Ministry jointly provided free health check-ups and medicines to more than 300 disadvantaged households, policy beneficiary families and presented 20 gifts to policy beneficiaries and national contributors in a program held in Dan Chu commune, Hoa An district, Cao Bang province.
* A mission from the Naval Service’s Committee for Population, Family and Children visited and presented gifts to children of martyr Do Huu Tuan who died in 2012 during duty performance on Phan Vinh Island, Truong Sa island district, Khanh Hoa province and of martyr Luu Anh Tuan who was former political commissar on Da Dong B Island (East London Reef B), Truong Sa island district.
* Eighteen gifts, worth VND 1.5 million each, were presented to policy beneficiary families in Vinh Phuc province by the provincial Military Command.
* A mission from the Women’s Union of Military Region 5 offered incense and flowers in tribute to fallen troops and heroic Vietnamese mothers at Quang Nam provincial War Cemetery and heroic Vietnamese mother statute; visited and provided medical examination for heroic Vietnamese mothers in Tam Ky city and Dien Ban township and presented a gift to heroic Vietnamese mother Nguyen Thi Tu.
* Delegations from the Coast Guard Region 4 Command paid tribute to fallen troops at Phu Quoc city War Cemetery, Phu Quoc Prison Historical Relic; presented gifts to 20 local policy beneficiary families, and joined hands with local units to clean monuments and war cemeteries.
* The Khanh Hoa provincial Border Guard Command handed over a house of compassion to the family of disadvantaged student Pham Thi Truc Lam in Vinh Phuoc ward, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province. Lam has for many years recorded high results in study.
