MND supports VND 500 million to needy people
PANO - On the occasion of the "For the Poor" month in 2021, Senior Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) of the Ministry of National Defense, handed over the token of VND 500 million to the "For the Poor" Fund on October 26.
On behalf of the fund, Le Tien Chau, member of the Party Central Committee cum Deputy President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, received the support.
With the implementation of the National Targeted Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, promoting the beautiful tradition of "the good leaves cover up the torn ones", the VFF Central Committee has launched the "For the Poor" program, aiming to mobilize the contributions of organizations, enterprises, and individuals to support needy people.
Addressing the event, General Do Can affirmed that as a VFF active member, the Vietnam People’s Army has always effectively implemented movements launched by the VFF. Over the past time, the whole military has closely worked with relevant organizations to well carry out dissemination work to mobilize people to observe the Party's guidelines and State's laws, contribute to socio-economic development, and poverty reduction.
The GDP’s Deputy Chief underscored that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the spirit of "fighting the pandemic like fighting the enemy", the military has promoted its pioneering role in the COVID-19 fight, mobilized medical personnel to pandemic hotbeds, and operated quarantined facilities.
Besides, troops have also been present at tens of thousands of COVID-19 checkpoints across the country, donated vaccine for people, contributing to deepening military-civilian ties as well as promoting the beautiful images of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the current context.
General Can expressed his sincere thanks to the VFF for assisting the military in COVID-19 prevention and control, hoping that the MND would further receive more support from the VFF to perform its assigned missions.
