At the meeting, Major General Nguyen Van Gau emphasized that in the struggle for national independence, troops and people of Tra Vinh province greatly contributed to the revolution. Many people, including Hero of the People’s Armed Forces martyr Nguyen Thi Ut, bravely scarified their lives for the independence.

Over the past year, the Party Organization, authorities, troops and people of Tra Vinh province have overcome difficulties and promoted activeness and creativeness to obtain important and comprehensive achievements.

On behalf of GDP’s leaders, General Gau deeply thanked the provincial Party Organization, authorities, and people for helping the Vietnam People’s Army during its combat and development.

GDP’s Deputy Chief also took the occasion to brief delegates on the military’s activities over the past time. He affirmed that that Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have attached much importance to advising the Party and the State to promulgate and implement various new policies for the military, troops’ families and national contributors and well conduct gratitude activities.

While clearing backlogs, the military has well coordinated with ministries, agencies and local authorities to carry out policies for those who took part in the struggle for national independence and international services and a project on searching and collecting remains of fallen soldiers. Military agencies and units have also worked with the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to realize Project 150 on identifying remains of martyrs and carry out gratitude activities.

Towards the 75th anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27, 1947 - 2022), the whole military has launched an emulation program themed “When drinking water, remember its source and paying gratitude to national contributors,” started the construction of 500 gratitude houses, and presented 500 savings books to needy policy beneficiaries and national contributors.

In addition, activities to present silk ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) to heroic Vietnamese mothers who are being taken care by military units and military uniforms and warm clothes to wounded and sick soldiers who are under treatment in convalescent centers have also been held.

The above-mentioned activities of the Vietnam People’s Army have contributed to the Party’s and whole community’s efforts in taking care of policy beneficiaries and national contributors. They have also helped educate young generations about the beautiful tradition of gratitude of the Vietnamese people.
