At the meeting with national contributors from Dak Lak province, General Can highly praised great contribution of the provincial people to the national salvation and reunification.

The GDP deputy director underscored the provincial Party Committee, authorities, troops and people’s efforts to overcome difficulties, energy, creativeness, promotion of the revolutionary tradition, and achievements gained over the past time, especially in implementing policies for national contributors.

At the meeting with national contributors from Dong Nai province, General Can expressed deep gratitude to the provincial Party Committee, authorities and people for protecting, taking care of and wholeheartedly and thoughtfully supporting the Vietnam People's Army’s troops in combat and development.

According to Nguyen Thi Mong Thu, Deputy Director of Dong Nai provincial Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs and head delegate, the locality is managing more than 57,500 national contributors. Nearly 30,000 families of national contributors are living in a stable condition with higher living standards against the average living standards of others in the areas they are residing. Many households are good at doing business.

During the two meetings, the GDP deputy director briefed the guests upon the military’s activities, especially the movement to pay gratitude to and care for national contributors.

He confirmed that the Central Military Commission and the MND have actively and proactively advised the Party and the State to promulgate and implement various new policies for the military, troops’ families and national contributors, and clear backlogs.

According to General Can, policies for servicemen engaged in the national resistance wars against the French colonialists and U.S. imperialists, national salvation cause, Fatherland protection war, implementation of international duties have been realized effectively, receiving high appreciation from local party committees, authorities, and people. In addition, the projects on collection and repatriation of remains of fallen troops have been carried out with high sense of responsibility.

He added that since 2013, units in the whole military have built over 6,800 gratitude houses, presented over 5,600 savings books, taken care of nearly 2,900 heroic Vietnamese mothers, and provided needy convalescent centers with automobiles and other medical supplies.

This year, towards the 75th anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27, 1947 - 2022), the whole military has launched an emulation program themed “When drinking water, remember its source and paying gratitude to national contributors,” started the construction of 500 gratitude houses, and presented 500 savings books to disadvantaged policy beneficiaries and national contributors. Units have also presented silk shirts and gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers, and gifted wounded and sick soldiers as well. In addition, the Central Military Commission and the MND plan to hold meetings with typical national contributors and relatives and fallen troops serving in the military, and honor outstanding national contributors.

At the meetings, the national contributors promised to continue to bring into play the traditions, actively contribute to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party, building a strong all-people’s defense posture, and educate younger generations about the national tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source.”
