Militia forces help mitigate landslide consequences
PANO - According to Colonel Nguyen Van Thuan, Commander of the Military Command of Cho Lach district in Ben Tre province, over 200 militiamen were mobilized to help local people overcome the influences of the recent landslide in Phu Binh hamlet, Vinh Binh commune.
Previously, 400m of a road in the area of Phu Binh hamlet was depressed, destroyed four houses and caused eight others to have urgent evacuation.

According to Chief of the Office of the Cho Lach district's Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Board Bui Thanh Liem, 25ha of rice and cash crop farming area, fish farming and hundreds of households in the region have been affected. Local authorities have completed the construction of a 500m of dyke in the landslide area and mobilized vehicles to reinforce the seriously affected places.
The Ben Tre provincial authorities and the Cho Lach district's People's Committee have recently decided to provide financial support for landslide-affected households (VND 20 million each for households with destroyed houses and VND 18 million each for families with their houses moved).
