Particularly, amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in the province, the provincial Military Command suggested setting up 50 quarantine areas and medical checkpoints in pandemic-hit communes, wards, and towns to the province’s leadership. Under the instruction of the military command, its affiliate units and agencies sent their personnel to cooperate with local public security forces and medical workers to ensure security and order in quarantine areas. The Military Medical University sent its medical staff and set up a field hospital to assist the province’s efforts in combating the pandemic.
Speaking at the meeting, General Giang asked the provincial Military Command to check and make a list of the number of personnel, vehicles, and facilities for use in COVID-19 prevention and control and submit it to the Ministry of National Defense.

Troops ready to join COVID-19 fight |
In the spirit of “fight the disease like fight the enemy,” military units in the province should closely work with local forces to prevent SARS-CoV-2 from spreading to the community, Giang added.
Earlier on May 16, 130 medical workers and students and five mobile testing vehicles from the Military Medical University arrived to Regiment 831 under the provincial Military Command to help the province in testing COVID-19 samples.
As planned, the medical workers and students have been divided into 20 five-member teams to work with Bac Giang province’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention to take and test samples of workers in industrial parks and quarantined areas in the province.
As of May 17, three first teams have taken 450 samples for COVID-19 testing at the first and second bases of Regiment 831 under the provincial military command and Lian Tech Company in Yen Dung district.
It is expected that on May 19 an additional mission of the Military Medical University will be sent to the province to speed up the COVID-19 testing, contributing to containing the pandemic and bringing local people’s lives back to normal.
