The Vietnamese experts also assisted Lao doctors in tackling complicated cases and shared experience in COVID-19 prevention and control as well as treating patients.
During its stay in Laos, the delegation suggested that center KM21 should build a separate waiting area for infection cases before sending them to hospitals for treatment while deploying more medical staff to raise the effectiveness of health examinations for quarantined people.
At the Champasak provincial General Hospital, the delegation proposed that the hospital should classify suspected COVID-19 cases.
The hospital should organize short-term refresher courses for its staff to improve their skills in treating COVID-19 patients, as well as get more medical supplies to protect medical staff.
In addition, Laos should equip its medical staff with methods of diagnosing, testing, and treating COVID-19 cases, as well as measures to clean and sterilize the environment.
Moreover, the delegation emphasized that local authorities should mobilize relevant forces at the same time to trace suspected or infection cases while widely announcing this information on TV channels or via the Internet so that at-risk people can make health declarations.
