Despite scorching sun, troops maintain their duties, check body temperatures of passers-by, and instruct and help them to make health declarations. Witnessing the troops efforts and acknowledging the difficulties facing the local armed forces, local people have reminded each other of strictly observing COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
Apart from Go Vap, other district military commands have also erected COVID-19 checkpoints. Some have made protective glasses to present to locals and front-line troops, or prepared accommodations for quarantined people. For localities less hit by the pandemic, their district military commands mobilized dozens of troops to support heavily hit pandemic areas. Meanwhile, the Military Command of District 10 worked with relevant forces to promptly set up a quarantine site at the dormitory of the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Senior Colonel Pham Van Ram, Second-in-Command Officer of the Municipal Military Command, the command directed its affiliates to take appropriate measures in line with the pandemic situation in each locality.
He added that local military agencies and units have strictly observed duty regulations and combat readiness. Together with 69 COVID-19 checkpoints across the city, the local armed forces have also formed mobile teams to trace those who have been in close contact with COVID-19 infected cases, deployed troops to ensure the efficiency of quarantine sites and field hospitals, and teamed up with armed forces of nearby provinces to boost patrols to prevent the spread of the disease.
Troops have also concentrated on improving their training quality, ensuring safety for their barracks, and dispatching personnel and vehicles to flashpoints to fight against COVID-19.
To date, there have not been any COVID-19 infections in the local armed forces.
With high determination, the local armed forces will do their best to soon curb the pandemic while completing other assigned missions.
