The dissemination team presents portraits of Uncle Ho and national flags to fishermen.

Troops of the unit directly disseminated information about maritime border security, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982; the Law of the Sea of Vietnam 2012; the Law on Vietnam Border Guard; and regulations on fighting IUU (Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated) fishing, to 450 local fishermen.

During the event, the unit presented 120 national flags, 30 portraits of Uncle Ho, 50 life jackets, and 860 informational leaflets to the fishermen.

The dissemination team aimed to enhance the fishermen's understanding of the role and potential of Vietnam's sea and islands, as well as their responsibilities and duties in preserving these resources. The session also helped fishermen gain a deeper understanding of the State's regulations on fishing and the protection of maritime sovereignty, thereby increasing their awareness of the importance of law compliance while fishing at sea.

Laws on combating IUU fishing being disseminated to local fishermen

In the coming time, Border Flotilla 18 will continue to encourage fishermen to remain united while operating at sea. They will also organize signing events where vessel owners can pledge not to violate foreign waters for illegal fishing. Additionally, they will strictly enforce regulations requiring fishing vessels to install vessel monitoring systems.
