Distressed fishermen saved at sea
PANO – Ship 521 of Brigade 955 under Naval Region 4 has successfully rescued a troubled trawler at sea on February 18.
Earlier, at 13:15 on February 18, trawler QN 94646 TS, captained by To Van Thanh from Binh Minh commune, Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province, caught fire due to a short circuit in the electrical box and sunk while fishing near Toc Tan island (Truong Sa island district, Khanh Hoa province).
Eight out of the 33 fishermen onboard were injured in the accident.

Learning the incident, trawler QN 94899 TS, captained by Truong Cong Binh, immediately rushed to the scene and rescued QN 94646 TS’s crewmembers.
In addition, ship 521 of Brigade 955 then approached QN 94899 TS and the brought eight injured victims to Toc Tan island’s infirmary for treatment.
The fishermen received first aid and are now recovering. They were also provided with food and accommodation on the island.
Functional agencies are discussing solutions to take them to the mainland.
