Distressed fisherman at Hoang Sa waters rescued
PANO – On the evening of September 13, ship SAR 412 safely took ashore a fisherman suffering from a heart attack at Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) waters.
Previously, fisherman Dang Van Hieu (1990), from Binh Minh commune, Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province, had a heart attack aboard fishing boat QNa-95717TS, which was operating approximately 145 nautical miles off the coast of Da Nang city at the time. Captain, Nguyen Tam immediately called for help.
The distressed fisherman was brought ashore for further treatment
Having received the mayday signal, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Vietnam MRCC), in association with the Da Nang Emergency Center, offered medical consultations to the victim, and directed the boat to return the mainland.
However, the victim’s health condition deteriorated while, at the same time, Typhoon Doksuri was approaching. Immediately, Vietnam MRCC assigned its on-duty ship SAR 412 to rescue the victim. After approaching the trawler, rescuers gave the victim first aid and then brought him ashore for further treatment.
