Comradeship houses handed over in Dong Thap province
PANO - On September 2, the Traditional Liaison Board of the Vietnam Border Guard in Ho Chi Minh City in association with the city's Border Guard Command handed over comradeship houses to three border guard veterans in Dong Thap province.
The recipients are Mr. Chau Ngoc Dan in Tan Cong Chi commune, Tan Hong district; Mr. Dang Hoang Van in Binh Thanh commune, Hong Ngu town; and Mr. Dang Van Rang in Thuong Phuc 2 commune, Hong Ngu district.
The construction of the houses cost over VND 500 million, including VND 200 million from the Ngoc Vien Dong Company and Hong Ngu district’s Police Department and the remaining from these families.
Major General Truong Van Thanh, former Deputy Chief of the Vietnam Border Guard Command and Head of the liaison board, informed that over the past 14 years, the board has raised fund for the construction of nearly 80 houses donated to needy border guard veterans in the Southern and Central regions of the country.
At the event, the board also granted 1,265 scholarships worth VND 2 million each to disadvantaged students, provided health check-ups and medicines for the poor, and gave more than 4,500 gifts to needy people in border areas of provinces in Southern Vietnam and Cambodia.
