Coast guards support fishermen in Binh Dinh

The Coast Guard Region 2 Command's personnel disseminate sea and islands-related information to people in Tam Quan Nam ward.

During the event, fishermen in Tam Quan Nam ward were briefed on information related to sea and islands, the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard in 2018, and regulations on sea and islands. The information dissemination activity aimed to mobilize fishermen to prevent IUU fishing.

On the occasion, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command and the Mass Mobilization Committee of the Binh Dinh provincial Party Committee presented 100 gifts, worth VND 1 million each, to policy beneficiaries and needy fishermen in Tam Quan Nam ward.

Political Chief of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command Senior Colonel Tran Hong Que said that the dissemination of sea and islands-related information is one of the activities within the “Coast guards stand by fishermen” program in 2022 reached by the Coast Guard Region 2 Command and the Binh Dinh provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Committee.

The activity contributes to raising fishermen’s awareness of and responsibility for protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands and marine resources, developing sustainable fisheries, and preventing IUU fishing. It also encourages needy fishermen to hold on to the sea and build happy families.
