“Coast guards stand by fishermen” program reviewed
PANO – From May 15 to 17, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command launched the “Coast guards stand by fishermen" program in 2019 and organized a conference to review two years of implementing the program in the 2017-2018 period, in Ly Son island district.
During the three-day event, the command organized various meaningful activities such as visiting the war cemetery of Ly Son island district, offering incense at the monument of “Hoang Sa - Bac Hai Flotilla,” cleaning up the water surface and beaches, promoting information about national seas and islands and the 2018 Law on Vietnam's Coast Guard, organizing a cultural exchange, and launching the competition “I love national seas and islands.”
The command also visited and presented gifts to 14 families of national contributors, religious families, 450 national flags to fishermen, 20 bicycles and 30 scholarships to needy students. All the gifts were worth over VND 352 million.
On the occasion, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command rewarded 12 groups and ten individuals with outstanding achievements in the two-year movement.
