On November 18, the delegation of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command visited Phong Chuong commune - one of the localities severely affected by the recent flood in Phong Dien district (Thua Thien Hue).

Although the rain already stopped, many roads in the commune are still inundated, making local people’ traveling very difficult.

Chairwoman of the Phong Chuong commune People's Committee Tran Thi Thu Huyen said that the commune has 2,100 households. The recent flood submerged 150 houses by nearly 1 meter or more. Most of these houses belong to the elderly and people with disabilities.

The delegation of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command presents gifts to flood-hit families in Phong Chuong commune.

After presenting gifts to flood-affected people, Senior Colonel Tran Hong Que, Deputy Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 2, shared that the gifts show the sentiments and responsibilities of the coast guard force in general and troops of Coast Guard Region 2 in particular toward local people in flood-hit areas, hoping that the gifts would ease their difficulties and help them soon resume their normal life.

Old Van Thi Em, aged 80 from Phu Loc village, Phong Chuong commune, touchingly said that the flood seriously effected the lives of the local people. Therefore, they were really happy to receive the care and support of the coast guards.

In order to joining hands with the local authorities to help local people soon resume their normal life, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command handed over 50 gift packages, worth VND 1 million each, to needy families and lonesome people severely affected by the recent flood in Phong Chuong commune.
