Coast Guard Region 2 disseminates information about IUU fishing
PANO – During two days October 28 and 29, in Quang Tri province, Flotilla 202 (Coast Guard Region 2), in coordination with Trieu An commune’s authorities (Trieu Phong district), held a program to disseminate information about illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and presented gifts to local policy households and needy fishermen.
During the event, representatives of Flotilla 202 directly popularized information to the fishermen in the region and knowledge about the Vietnam Coast Guard Law in 2018, Fisheries Law in 2017, and documents related to legal fishing at sea and IUU fishing.

Over the past time, in order to prevent IUU fishing, Flotilla 202 has worked with local authorities to effectively implement many measures, focusing on law dissemination to raise public awareness of the Party and State’s guidelines on the task of protecting the national sovereignty over sea and islands in the current context, and regulations on IUU fishing.

On this occasion, the flotilla handed over 100 gifts to policy households and needy fishermen in Trieu An commune, distributed 300 leaflets and presented 200 national flags to the fishermen.

Earlier, Ship CSB 2012 of Flotilla 202 also disseminated information about IUU fishing to six trawlers with 35 fishermen, distributed 150 leaflets, and offered 100 national flags, together with 20 boxes of instant noodles and free medicines to fishermen.
