Senior Colonel Vu Van Hai speaking at the event

According to Senior Colonel Vu Van Hai, Chief of the Department Political Affairs of the Chemical Corps, during the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists, the U.S. military used A So valley in A Luoi district as a field airport. This was also a place to store toxic chemicals and a transit station for the U.S. Air Force to spray chemicals throughout the Central region. Thus, Thua Thien Hue and A So Airport were those of the places heavily affected by Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin in Vietnam. The Central province is home to nearly 16,000 AO/dioxin victims, A Luoi district alone has about 5,000 victims.
