Earlier, on July 11, 2022, Nam Lanh Border Post received information from local Leo Van Thu from Huoi Ca village, Muong Va commune, Sop Cop district, Son La asking for help. His son, named L.V.C, born in 2003, was tricked and sold to Cambodia.

Upon knowing this information, the Son La provincial Border Guard Command required the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention of Nam Lanh Border Post to coordinate with functional forces to conduct an investigation.

On September 10, 2022, the forces successfully rescued the victim and took him back home.

According to L.V.C., he got in touch with an unknown man. The man offered to help L.V.C. get a decent job with a high salary in Cambodia. However, once L.V.C. arrived in Cambodia, he was forced to work in an Internet café while being frequently beaten and threatened to be killed. Then, L.V.C. was sold to another company in Bavet city, Svay Rieng province, Cambodia. Luckily, he promptly captured a photo of the company’s address and sent it to his family.

On the same day, Son La and An Giang border guards, the Committee on Human trafficking Prevention and control, and the Son La provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs rescued a Vietnamese victim, named V.A.L. (a H'mong ethnic minority in Pa Hoc village, Sop Cop district, Son La) who was tricked and sold to Cambodia. The victim has now been brought back to Vietnam.
