Ba Ria City’s armed forces launches rice ATM for needy locals
PANO – The Military Command of Ba Ria city of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province worked with the city’s Fatherland Front Committee, the Executive Board of the city’s Buddhist Sangha and benefactors to launch a rice ATM to assist needy local residents during the COVID-19 pandemic on June 26 and 27.

According to Commissar of the Military Command of Ba Ria city Colonel Duong Xuan Hung, in response to the unit’s call, businesses, benefactors and troops donated 29 tons of rice, worth 350 million VND.
The rice supply aimed to help local people overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and enhance the compassion of people amid the pandemic.
To avoid mass gatherings, the Military Command of Ba Ria city assigned its personnel to measuring locals’ body temperatures and reminding locals to wear face masks, properly wash hands and maintain social distancing. Each local can receive a maximum of 5kg of rice at the ATM.
Amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ba Ria - Vung Tau provincial armed forces have implemented different models and initiatives to support local residents in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Particularly, units under the provincial Military Command launched “0 VND Supermarkets,” “0 VND markets,” and “Gifts of love” models. They also presented face shields to frontline anti-pandemic forces and set up four rice ATMs in Phu My town, Ba Ria city and Vung Tau city.
