* The Central Council for Defense and Security Education, in coordination with the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, on July 31 held a conference in Pleiku city, Gia Lai province, to disseminate defense-security knowledge to dignitaries and monks from religious organizations in Military Region 5 .
Major General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the VPA’s General Staff, Permanent Deputy-Head of the council, attended the event.

Attendees at the event were provided with the Party’s guidelines and policies towards defense and security, religion and President Ho Chi Minh's thought of great unity of religions as well as hostile forces’ strategy “peaceful evolution”.
* On the same day, General Tien led a delegation from the VPA’s General Staff to inspect combat readiness in the Gia Lai provincial Border Guard Command, Company 72 of Army Corps 15, and Border Post 721 under the Gia Lai provincial Border Guard Command.
During the inspection, General Tien acknowledged achievements of the units in maintaining combat readiness and strictly implementing military regulations. He also asked them to continue conducting training courses, and improving quality of political education, contributing to promoting troops' political stance.
Additionally, they should enhance border external affairs and closely work with other units and localities to ensure local security and social order, making contributions to socio-economic development in shared border areas.
* Another mission from the VPA’s General Staff, led by its Deputy Chief, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, visited and inspected the implementation of military-defense work in the Ha Tinh provincial Military Command, the Vung Ang - Son Duong Port Border Guard Station and Son Duong island.
The delegation also included Head of the Department of Operations under the VPA’s General Staff Lieutenant General Huynh Ngoc Ha, Commander of Military Region 4 (MR4) Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Political Commissar of MR4 Major General Tran Vo Dung, Deputy Commander of Border Guard Major General Le Duc Thai, and Secretary of the Ha Tinh provincial Party Committee Le Dinh Son.
Senior Colonel Tran Van Son, Commander of the Ha Tinh provincial Military Command briefed the delegation on the unit’s performances of military-defense work in the first half of 2018.
Accordingly, the unit has overcome difficulties to fulfill all tasks.
At the meeting, General Nam spoke highly of the unit’s achievements over the first six months of 2018. In the time to come, he asked them to closely work with relevant forces to grasp local situations, actively make recommendations to the local authorities to help them have timely solutions to situations, contributing to firmly ensuring local order and security.
