At the event, VNDPKO Director Senior Colonel Pham Manh Thang reported on the unit’s task performance and outstanding attainments gained over the past 10 years of development.
Particularly, Vietnamese officers taking on U.N. peacekeeping duties at U.N. missions have always exerted all-out efforts, overcome difficulties, excellently accomplished all assigned tasks and gained respect and love from U.N. leaders, U.N. missions’ commanders, international colleagues and local people. Many Vietnamese blue berets have been assessed by the U.N. as excellent fulfillment of tasks and awarded U.N. medals as well as numerous merit certificates and letter of congratulations.

Notably, the department has been honored with one Second-class Fatherland Protection Order, two Third-class Fatherland Protection orders, and emulation flags of the Ministry of National Defense leadership, In addition, it was among 10 outstanding collectives at the 20th Vietnam Glory program 2024.
On behalf of the department, Colonel Thang promised to be absolutely loyal to the Party, Fatherland, military, and the path chosen by President Ho Chi Minh, deserved to be ambassadors of peace carrying out activities of political and humane significance, continue to promote the “Determined-to-win” emulation movement under the theme “United, exemplary, disciplinary, pro-active, creative, determined-to-win.”

An overview of the achievement-reporting event |
In the proud and moving spirit, the department’s cadres and officers vowed to stay united, be determined to build a strong and healthy Party organization, comprehensively-strong unit and excellently fulfill all assignments, deserving the tradition of “fulfilling all tasks, overcoming all difficulties, and defeating all enemies” of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Over the past decade engaging in U.N. peacekeeping operations, the Vietnam People’s Army has sent 804 officers and non-commissioned officers in individual and unit forms, including five level-two field hospitals working at the U.N. Mission in South Sudan, two engineering companies at Abyei area, and 114 individual officers.

Apart from excellently performing their tasks, the Vietnamese peacekeeping force has effectively conducted military-civilian cooperation activities, bringing better life to locals, and spreading good image of Vietnamese blue berets and Uncle Ho’s soldiers’ image, tradition, and qualities among international friends and colleagues and creating positive effects for the people in the homeland.
