Vietnam People’s Army Day celebrated

PANO – Meaningful activities have been underway across the country to mark the 69th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and 24th anniversary of the Whole People's Defence Festive Day.

* On December 20th, leaders of Ba Ria-Vung Tau offered incense at the province’s cemetery and visited army units and local Vietnamese heroic mothers and high-ranking officers.

* Later in the evening, Nguyen Hue University held musical performance in praise of the country, the Party, Uncle Ho, the army and comradeship. Previously, the university opened its sports festival, which will last untill the end of December, with the participation of 300 athletes competing in 9 military categories.

* Earlier on December 19th, the Border Guard School No.2 organized an exchange with 300 students from its twinning universities, held a sports festival and awarded over 80 units and individuals with outstanding achievements in an emulation program to welcome the Vietnam People’s Army Day.

* Meanwhile, a delegation of doctors from the Thanh Hoa provincial Military Command gave free health check-ups and medicines to policy beneficiaries in Phu Son commune, Quan Hoa district as well as presented VND 400 million for the commune’s military and civilian infirmary to upgrade its facilities.

* Also on December 20th, Tran Quoc Tuan University held a get-together for its lecturers, cadets and officers to recall the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People’s Army and reaffirm their determination to fulfill assigned tasks.

* Division 320 under Army Corps 3 handed over a house of gratitude to Lieutenant Hoang Dinh Sau, Deputy Head of Company 26, Regiment 48, who is facing housing difficulty, in Bien Ho commune, Pleiku city, Gia Lai province.

* The Ninh Thuan provincial Command’s troops also offered incense at the province’s cemetery to mark 69 years of the Vietnam People’s Army and 24 years of the Whole People's Defence Day.

* Division 968 under Military Zone 4 mobilized 300 cadres and soldiers to help people in Cam Thuy commune, Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province, upgrade 2.5km of road and 4km of irrigation canal as well as presented gifts to needy local households and held an artistic exchange and friendly sports games with local youths.

* Previously, Vietnamese Defence Attaché Offices in Belarus and India hosted banquets to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and 24th anniversary of the Whole People's Defence Day.
