At the headquarters of Ho Chi Minh City Military Command, a banh chung (square sticky rice cakes) and banh tet (cylindrical sticky rice cakes) making competition was held in the presence of head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission on Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia.

Each participating team made three banh chung and three banh tet in 45 minutes. The winners were those with cakes meeting cake-making techniques, shape, and flavor creative decoration criteria.

At the event, Mr. Nghia hailed troops for their skills, creativity, and solidarity and highly praised the significance of the competition in preserving and promoting the traditional culture of the nation, bringing joy to troops during Tet.

At the banh chung-making contest to welcome Tet 2025 of the Naval Academy, five teams competed to make 15 cakes in 30 minutes, showcase their cake-making techniques, and decorate the products.

Staff Sergeant Nguyen Ba Tri from Coast Guard Class 18 under Battalion 2 expressed his excitement participating in the competition. He said that it was a memorable and meaningful experience to him because it gave him a chance to explore the traditional beauty of the nation.

On January 24 and 25, Companies 174 and 173 under Regiment 240 of Division 363, Air Defense - Air Force Service, in collaboration with Nam Hai Secondary and Nguyen Du Primary Schools in Hai An district, Hai Phong city, organized a program “Sky-guarding spring – Tet of military-civilian sentiments” and a tree planting festival.

At the program, participants made 200 banh chung to later present to local policy beneficiary families and students in need in Hai An district.

They also engaged in activities to learn about the glorious tradition of the Communist Party of Vietnam, joined artistic and sport exchanges, drawing, folk games playing.

Also on January 25, at the apartment building of Brigade 101 in Cam Thanh Bac commune, Cam Lam district, Khanh Hoa province, Brigade 101 under the Naval Region 4 Command held a green banh chung-making competition for families.

The contest created a joyful atmosphere for families and encouraged wives whose husbands are carrying out missions on islands.
