In his direction speech, Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Huy Vinh emphasized that the 80-year experience of building, combat, victory and development of the VPA has affirmed that building a politically-strong military is the basic principle in building a new-style military of the working class. That is also a consistent lesson, creating a strong premise for building an elite, compact, strong, modernized military, ensuring that the military is always absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State and the people, completes any task, overcomes any difficulty, and defeats any enemy.
At the conference, a report titled “80-year-building of a politically-strong VPA - Achievements and Experience” gave participants a comprehensive view of the military from the past to present. It confirmed the great value and decisive significance of the building of a military strong in politics.

In fact, since its inception, the military has received due attention and directions from higher levels to develop strongly in terms of politics as a basis for improving its synergy and combat strength so that the VPA could overcome all difficulties and challenges, and together with the entire Party and people gain outstanding achievements.
In his speech, Maj. Gen. Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Army Newspaper, emphasized that building a revolutionary, standardized, elite and gradually- modernized Vietnam People's Army strong in politics is a strategic issue that needs to continue to be led, directed, studied and summarized deeply and comprehensively.

At the event, presentations affirmed the basic viewpoints and consistent policy of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense in building a politically-strong Vietnam People's Army and highlighted the importance of the work, considering it a fundamental principle in building the Party's revolutionary armed forces, a solid foundation for the military to be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, stand ready to surmount difficulties and challenges, constantly grow and develop, and excellently complete all tasks.

Concluding the conference, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Hung Oanh, Director of the Political Officer Candidate School, hoped that all party committees, party cells, political commissars, political cadres, officers and soldiers in the whole military must be consistent in building a politically-strong military to ensure that in any circumstance, the Vietnam People's Army is always absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State and the people; firmly upholds the goals of national independence and socialism, and successfully perform all assignments.
