At the meeting, Commanding Officer of the provincial Border Guard Command Senior Colonel Phan Van Hoa reported that in 2024, the unit’s Party Committee, Chain-of-Command and their affiliates stayed united, and comprehensively performed their assigned missions. Specifically, they synchronously and resolutely carried out measures on border guard work, and strictly observed combat readiness regulations. They also pro-actively directed patrols and management of borderline and border markers.

Attentively, the provincial border guard force closely coordinated with local forces to grasp situations to ensure political security, social order and safety in border areas and fight against drug crimes, contributing to successfully smashing various trans-national drug trafficking rings.
Congratulating the Dien Bien provincial Border Guard Command on its achievements, Gen. Thai requested its Party committee and Chain-of-command to continue to direct the unit to team up with forces to effectively implement good models, creative methods to help develop local socio-economy, reduce poverty sustainably, and build new-style rural areas.

He also asked for further promotion of the policy in which border guard cadres are members of border district and commune-level Party committees, Party members of border guard units participate in meetings of border villages’ Party cells. In addition, the unit was asked to continue to assist local disadvantaged households, bring into play such effective models as “Foster children of border posts,” “Paving the way to schools for children,” “Adoptive mothers,” and the program “Border spring warms up border people’s hearts,” among others.

Other tasks that the unit should concentrate on include effective maintenance of border diplomacy, building of outstanding and strong Party organization, comprehensively-strong, exemplary and typical unit. In the immediate term, it should make thorough preparations for a cozy lunar New Year (Tet) for troops and local ethnic people.
