Present at the meeting were Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, permanent member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of the General Staff; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, permanent member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Defense Ministers; Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, permanent member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Defense Minister; Senior Lieutenant General Tran Don, Deputy Defense Minister; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the General Staff; Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics and representatives from military agencies and units.

According to reports delivered at the meeting, under the leadership and instructions of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, all agencies and units in the whole military  accomplished all set military and defense missions in October.

Particularly, military units strictly maintained combat readiness as well as conducted training and exercises. They also embraced and implemented strategies, resolutions, projects and programs regarding defense and military; strengthened political and ideological education and dissemination; and successfully fulfilled defense external affairs. In addition, military agencies and units actively participated in disaster relief and search and rescue activities as well as crime control.

Those above achievements have contributed to ensuring a stable political situation across the country.

In October, the Ministry of National Defense instructed military agencies and units to ensure security for the Eighth Plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee and the Sixth Session of the 14th National Assembly. They closely followed developments of the situation to give timely advice to higher levels to deal with emerging issues effectively.

Speaking at the meeting, General Lich praised achievements recorded by military agencies and units over the past month. Regarding major defense and military missions in November, he asked the chains of command of all agencies and units to direct and instruct their subordinates to maintain combat readiness, closely follow situations to deal with problems in a timely and effective manner. Military units were requested to implement their training programs as scheduled, study the resolution of the Eighth Plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee, well perform defense external activities and strengthen international cooperation in surmounting war consequences.

The Minister urged agencies and units to accomplish the set plans with a focus on raising the quality of training, combat readiness and exercises, while promoting discipline observance and ensuring safety. They should also well implement education and information dissemination to effectively fight against erroneous allegations of hostile forces and prepare for meetings to review their agencies and units’ task implementation of 2018 and roll out missions for 2019.
