Over the past month, under the direction of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and MND, defense agencies and military units have comprehensively and resolutely carried out and fulfilled their military-defense duties.

Attentively, they have strictly observed combat readiness regulations, kept a close watch on situational developments, actively given advice to the Party and State to handle contingencies in a timely and effective manner.

In March, units have continued their training, especially for new enlistees. Force regularity building, patrols and guard mission have been maintained together with proactive adjustment in personnel organization, guarantee of materiel for training and combat readiness missions.

Also in the month, the MND has approved training programs of the National Defense Academy, exercise plans for 2022 of units, and military enlistment inspection plans in some cities and provinces. Experience in training regular naval militia flotilla has also been drawn.

Good outcomes have been also seen in political and ideological education, dissemination about military and defense tasks, good people and good deeds, combat against wrongful viewpoints of hostile forces, and protection of the Party’s ideological foundation.

In March, a competition for technical chiefs of divisions and brigades in the whole military were organized successfully.

At the meeting, Defense Minister Giang virtually checked combat readiness posture of several units.

The defense chief applauded the high sense of responsibility of officers and troops over the past time and urged them to heighten vigilance to avoid being put in a passive position in any circumstances.

Acknowledging difficulties facing troops, General Giang encouraged them to stay united, promote creativity, and fulfill all assignments.

Speaking highly of high responsibility of leaders and chains-of-command at all levels and high resolve of troops in the whole military in task implementation, General Giang analyzed and clarified domestic and international situations in the near future with close attachment to local military and defense tasks.

He urged the whole military to continue to exercise combat readiness duties, closely follow and forecast development of situations, contribute recommendations to address contingencies. He also asked relevant forces to work closely with one another to manage and defend the border and ensure security and order nationwide, especially during big events and ceremonies of the Party and nation.

General Giang requested agencies and units to review their training sessions, devise solutions to improve training quality, organize competitions for snipers, artillerymen, and search and rescue forces, and check the capacity of reservists.

The defense minister also underlined other missions such as active information dissemination, ideological orientation, COVID-19 prevention and control in the new situation, assurance of weapons and equipment for missions, safety during training, working and traffic participation.

He also laid stress on the effective and substantial organization of defense diplomacy activities in the coming time, including the upcoming 7th Vietnam-China border defense friendship exchange.
