This year, they plan to plant about 6,000 timber trees and thousands of fruit trees.
* To respond to the festival, the Political Officers Training School and local authorities launched the 2016 tree planting festival.
* Right after the launch ceremony, more than 13,000 trees were planted by the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command and other units stationed in the province.
* Other army units, such as Depot K28 of Military Zone 2, Tuyen Hoa district’s Military Command in Quang Binh province, Hai Phong’s Border Guard Command and Depot J102 of the General Department of Techniques held similar activities to plant tens of thousands of trees.
The tree planting festival, initiated by President Ho Chi Minh, has become an annual festival at the beginning of a lunar new year, helping raise the public’s awareness of the importance of tree planting and environmental protection.
