The Quang Tri provincial Military Command and other affiliated units of Military Region 4 launched the movement which will take place from May 18 to July 27 this year under the direction of Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Accordingly, the provincial armed forces will promote their combat readiness posture, try their best to attain good results in training, further building units of regularity and strict discipline. They will pay more attention to implementing policies for wounded soldiers and martyrs’ relatives and for troops’ families. The provincial Military Command will also team up with local authorities to carry out more gratitude activities in the locality.

Addressing the ceremony, Gen. Can instructed relevant units to boost education on patriotism, revolutionary heroism and national tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source”. Furthermore, they should be active in such activities as caring for Vietnamese heroic mothers, seriously wounded and sick soldiers, martyrs’ relatives; gathering information about and collecting martyrs’ remains; building gratitude, comradeship and “VND-100” homes; creating jobs for martyrs’ and seriously wounded soldiers’ children; and duplicating good models in gratitude work.
At the ceremony, Gen. Can presented five gratitude houses, worth VND 350 million in total, to needy families of the Quang Tri provincial Military Command and a gift to retired Senior Colonel Tran Huu Luu, a hero of the People’s Armed Forces, former head of Search Team 584 of the command.
Earlier, Gen. Can led a mission to offer incense to martyrs resting in peace at the Truong Son and Road 9 National War Cemeteries and the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Historical Relic Site.
At the launching ceremony the same day, the Department of Military Medicine under the Ministry of National Defense raised funds to build gratitude houses for policy beneficiaries and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Teo in Yen Phu ward, Tay Ho district, Hanoi.
Meanwhile, Brigade 204 under Artillery Corps targets to uphold firm political stand and their determination to fulfill their assigned missions, build a comprehensively strong unit with high training quality, combat readiness, strict observance of military discipline, ensure logistic and technical services at best and implement policies for wounded soldiers, martyrs’ relatives and troops’ families.
