Military Region 2 assigns tasks to troops joining U.N. Peacekeeping Operations
PANO - On February 20, the Staff of Military Region 2 held a conference to assign tasks to its troops joining Engineering Company Rotation 4 of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VDPKO). The event was chaired by Major General To Quang Hanh, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 2.
In line with the decision of the Minister of National Defense on the establishment of Engineering Company Rotation 4 under VDPKO and the directive from the General Staff on the deployment of non-commissioned officers for the unit, Military Region 2 has selected 12 highly qualified personnel from its subordinate units. These individuals have been chosen based on their political and ethical qualities, professional competence, and physical fitness.

Speaking at the conference, General Hanh emphasized the significance of the Vietnam People’s Army participating in U.N. peacekeeping operations. He highlighted that in recent years, Military Region 2’s peacekeeping forces have consistently overcome challenges, demonstrated professionalism, and made significant contributions to international missions.
The "blue-beret soldiers" of Military Region 2, alongside peacekeeping forces from other military units, have helped promote the image of Vietnam as a peace-loving nation committed to global stability and development.

The Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 2 urged this year’s peacekeepers to strictly adhere to the external affairs policies of the Party, the State, and the military; uphold the principles of the U.N. Charter, international law, and the host country’s regulations; and continuously enhance their expertise to excel in all assigned missions. He also emphasized the importance of fostering internal unity, strengthening international solidarity, and building close ties with local residents.
