Currently, the Ministry of National Defense is managing more than 100 businesses operating in different fields, including production, weaponry and equipment maintenance, and ship-building. Many businesses are holding important positions in the national economy and contributing to the development of the nation. Outstanding businesses include the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), Saigon Newport Corporation, Dong Bac Corporation, and Vietnam Helicopter Corporation, among others.

According to statistics, military enterprises' total revenue in 2023 was estimated at VND 383.6 trillion, and they contributed VND 56.8 trillion to the state budget.

Military businesses make great contribution to national development

Speaking at the conference, Gen. San asked military businesses to continue to bring into play the outcomes obtained in 2023 to achieve all production and business targets in 2024. The deputy defense minister asked functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) to grasp the Central Military Commission’s Conclusion 1815-KL/QUTW on continuing to implement Resolution 425-NQ/QUTW on renewing and raising the quality of performance of military businesses by 2020 and years to come.

They were requested to create favorable condition for businesses under the MND to promote autonomy in production and business; build long-term, sustainable, and breakthrough production, business, and investment strategies; resolve arising problems in a timely manner to facilitate the development of businesses; enhance competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

Military businesses make great contribution to national development

Gen. San noted that military businesses trusted with key projects of the nation by the Government should be aware of their honor and responsibility to effectively implement projects, foster coordination, and support each other to complete assigned tasks.
