Gen. Tan made the statement at the eight Trade Union Congress of the GS held on August 2 afternoon.
The congress saw the presence of leaders from agencies and units having Trade Union organizations and 190 outstanding Trade Union members who represented the GS’s cadres, Trade Union members and workers.
At the event, on the basis of the political report delivered, delegates democratically and frankly analyzed outcomes that the Trade Union organization has achieved and pointed out shortcomings and lessons.
The participants also discussed and defined orientations, targets, duties, and solutions to improve quality and efficiency of the GS’s Trade Union activities and workers’ movement in the next five years.

In his speech, Gen. Tan acknowledged, applauded and highly praised achievements that the GS’s Trade Union organization and workers’ movement have obtained over the past five years.
Emphasizing the role and duties of the Trade Union organization in the coming years, Gen. Tan asked the GS’s Party committee, chain-of-command, political organizations, political cadres and Trade Union organization to pay attention to political education, raising Trade Union members’ awareness of the GS and its affiliates’ tasks, and building a contingent of Trade Union members with firm political stance, absolute loyalty to the Party’s leadership.
The GS deputy chief also asked for personnel streamlining, equitization of enterprises, heightening of responsibility, and efforts to excellently complete all assignments.

The Trade Union organization was requested to effectively implement the emulation movement entitled “Good laborers, Creative Laborers,” and train and foster Trade Union cadres.
In the morning the same day, the delegates reported achievements to Late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and honor outstanding heads of grassroots Trade Union organizations in the 2018 - 2023 period.
