The Council’s director, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, a member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, a permanent member of the Central Military Commission and Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, chaired the meeting.
According to General Cuong’s speech and other opinions, the 2017 emulation and reward service was comprehensively implemented in the whole army under the sound direction of all-level leadership.
The “Determination to win” emulation campaign was innovative and closely combined with patriotic emulation movements in localities and units and agencies, apart from strengthening the movement “Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts, morals and lifestyle” and the campaign “Promoting tradition, devoting talent, deserving to be Uncle Ho’s soldiers” as well as implementation of the fourth Resolution of the 12th Party Central Committee on Party building and revamping.
The good performance of the service inspired officers and troops to bring into full play the national revolutionary tradition, patriotism, and virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers; heighten their determination and the spirit of undertaking any assigned missions, trying their best to promote their expertise and high spirit of combat readiness, firmly defending the national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Party, the State, people and socialism.
With its excellent performance of the service, the military was considered by the Central Emulation and Reward Council a leading agency in the national patriotic emulation movement.
In 2018, the MND’s Council will focus on further implementing the emulation and reward campaign in the whole army, striving to exceed targets set in the Central Military Commission’s resolutions on directing the performance of military and defense missions in 2018, renew the emulation campaign’s contents and forms, contributing to building strong and healthy Party cells and comprehensively strong agencies and units.
At the meeting, delegates discussed how to reward groups and individuals directly involved in training, combat readiness, combat, flood prevention and control, search and rescue and on-duty troops in impoverished areas as well as measures to fix short-comings during the implementation of the service.
